Caution Message:
Caution must be applied when using any of our Fire Poker Store products. Our products are made of metals having decorative parts that could harm the user if care is not taken during use. Fires are hot and dangerous. Heat can cause burns and metals placed into a fire and applied to ones skin can cause a serious injury. We recommend that the fireside end of the tool be avoided when heated at all cost. Drinking alcohol fireside, while using these tools, can lead to injury. We require children under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult when fireside while using any of our Stoker or Poker devices. We recommend that care be taken to place our tools out of harm's way and store them properly so that they do not create a tripping hazard; especially in the dark. The buyer, or any person using or taking delivery of our products, binds and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Fire Poker Store, its officers agents and employees from any claims, causes of action, suits, debts, damages, costs, charges and expenses including costs and attorney's fees, arising out of or connected in any way with any act, omission, harm, or neglect of our products by the user.
Special Use Notice:
All the Pokers and Stokers we offer are designed as push pull tools. This means that if you use the tool as a prying devise while fireside, with the larger logs for example, the tool may bend or deform during use. Although our products are fashioned from quality, high strength steel tubing and solid steel rod the effects of leverage may cause the tool to bend if used in an improper fashion. Any steel placed under the excessive force of leverage can bend so please use these tools intelligently. Additionally, exposing a Poker or Stoker to heat from a fire for an extended length of time (20 plus minutes) can cause warping and/or deformation of the tool. Please do not heat the business end of our tools to a point that they become red hot as damage may occur.
Graphite Coatings Information:
All the Pokers and Stokers we offer are coated with a very high quality baked graphite finish. This is a job we out source to a local service provider to insure a consistent high quality exterior coating on all our products. No matter the color, the coated finish helps to prevent rust and withstands heat well. With that said, steel can and will rust over time and no matter what we do to the poker end of the tool the graphite coating will eventually become damaged when exposed to heat. This damage to the poker end of the tool will eventually form rust and if this bothers you we recommend the following action be taken to limit the damage over time: Seasonally wash or sand the business end of the Poker or Stoker and apply a light coating of a High Heat / Grill Paint to the heat blackened area (bottom 10-14 inches of the tool). This High Heat paint can be found at any local home improvement or hardware store. For those opposed to the painting option we recommend that you season the business end of the tool. Simple seasoning involves applying a layer of animal fat or vegetable oil, and heating the steel to bond the fat to the metal. This is done in the same manner as seasoning a cast iron skillet.
